Precautionary Boil Water Notice Beginning September 15, 2026
The District of Hudson’s Hope will be transitioning from the temporary clarifier to the new permanent clarifier at the Water Treatment Plant beginning Tuesday, September 15, 2026.
As part of the commissioning and approval process for the new treatment equipment, the District will be required to issue a Precautionary Boil Water Notice while confirmatory water quality sampling is completed and reviewed by Northern Health. This is a standard precautionary measure used when significant changes are made to a drinking water treatment system.
The Precautionary Boil Water Notice is expected to remain in place for approximately 4 to 6 weeks. This timeframe includes the collection of water samples, laboratory analysis, and review of the results by Northern Health. The notice will remain in effect until the required sampling confirms that the system is operating as intended and Northern Health has accepted the results.
What residents should do during the Boil Water Notice
During the Precautionary Boil Water Notice, all water used for drinking, cooking, preparing food or beverages, brushing teeth, making ice, washing fruits and vegetables, or preparing infant formula should be brought to a rolling boil for at least one minute before use.
Boiled water can be stored in clean, covered containers and refrigerated for later use.
Water may continue to be used for:
- Bathing and showering (avoid swallowing water)
- Laundry
- Cleaning and household chores
- Flushing toilets
