Property Taxes
Property taxes are the District’s main source of revenue in providing valuable services to residents. Property tax bills are mailed out at the end of May and due on the first workday after Canada Day. The collection of property taxes also includes revenues that the District collects on behalf of other agencies. For example, a portion of property tax collections are distributed to the Province for School Tax, BC Assessment, the Municipal Finance Authority, and the Regional District of Fraser Fort George.
Property Tax Notices
The due date to pay your taxes without penalty is on or before 4:30 pm on the first workday after Canada Day. If you have not received your notice by June 1st, please call the District Office 250-783-9901. Please ensure you have received tax notices on all properties that you own.
Bring in your tax notice and payment to the District Office at 9904 Dudley Drive. We are open 8:30am to 4:30pm from Monday to Friday. Acceptable methods of payment include:
- Personal cheques – payable to District of Hudson’s Hope
- Post-dated personal cheques
- Bank Drafts
- Cash
- Interac – please ensure your debit card daily transaction limit is sufficient before presenting the card for use. Contact your bank regarding your daily transaction limit.
You must also sign the back of your tax notice and present it at the District Office to receive your Home Owner Grant if you qualify.
Changing Your Address
The address on a title is where information about a property may be sent, such as assessment, property tax and speculation tax notices. Property owners are encouraged to ensure it is an address where they can receive mail. It does not have to be the address of the property.
BC property owners can update the mailing address on a land title online at using the BC Services Card app. The option to mail or deliver an application in person by appointment at a Land Title Office is also available. To learn more or start an application, visit www.ltsa.ca/ChangeMailingAddress.
