Public Works

Public Works (PW) staff are responsible for ensuring the continuous and safe operation of the District’s infrastructure and facilities. This infrastructure includes paved roads, gravel roads and alleys, sidewalks, street signage, streetlights, water treatment plant and water supply system, wastewater collection and treatment system, drainage system, garbage collections, vehicles, campgrounds, recreational facilities, cemeteries, and municipal buildings. In addition, these PW staff coordinate banners, flags, tennis courts, floral displays, seasonal displays and community events.

Responsibilities of the Public Works include:

• Operating and maintaining the District’s roads, water, sewer, and drainage systems
• Water Treatment Plant
• Managing snow and ice and ploughing snow from roads and sidewalks
• Municipal buildings
• Operating and maintaining District run Campgrounds
• Emergency engineering services for water, sewer, drainage, and roads (24/7)
• Managing Cemeteries
• Operating and maintaining Airport runway, grounds, and other infrastructure at the airport
• Sports playing fields, parks, playgrounds, roadside boulevards, and flowerbeds
• Maintaining the corporate fleet of vehicles and equipment
• Managing solid waste services, Collecting garbage
• Traffic operations, including streetlights, pavement markings, signage, and road safety
• Cutting grass and danger trees to maintain District parks and boulevards
• Maintaining memorial benches
• Maintaining street lighting
