Precautionary Boil Water Notice in Effect as of 10:00 AM on September 15, 2026
The District of Hudson’s Hope advises residents that a Precautionary Boil Water Notice is now in effect for all users of the municipal water system, effective 10:00 AM on Tuesday, September 15, 2026.
The notice is being issued as the District transitions from the temporary clarifier to the new permanent clarifier at the Water Treatment Plant. This transition is an important step in commissioning the upgraded treatment system and requires additional water quality monitoring and review by Northern Health.
The Precautionary Boil Water Notice will remain in effect until confirmatory water quality sampling demonstrates that the new treatment process is operating as intended and Northern Health has accepted the results.
Due to the time required for sample collection, laboratory analysis, and regulatory review, the notice is expected to remain in place for approximately 4 to 6 weeks.
What Residents Should Do
During the Precautionary Boil Water Notice, water used for the following purposes should be brought to a rolling boil for at least one minute before use:
- Drinking
- Cooking and food preparation
- Making ice
- Brushing teeth
- Washing fruits and vegetables
- Preparing infant formula or baby food
- Making beverages such as coffee, tea, and juice
Water can continue to be used for:
- Bathing and showering (avoid swallowing water)
- Laundry
- Cleaning and household chores
- Flushing toilets

A Precautionary Boil Water Notice is a standard public health measure used during significant changes to a drinking water treatment system. It helps ensure public safety while monitoring confirms that the upgraded system is performing as designed.

The District will continue to provide updates throughout the commissioning process and will notify residents once the Precautionary Boil Water Notice has been lifted.
