Engineering Services

Engineering is responsible for planning, designing, budgeting, and administering the District’s infrastructure, which includes, but is not limited to, roads, sidewalks, traffic control, water, sanitary sewer, and storm drainage.

Responsibilities of the Engineering services include:

  • Developing policies and conducting strategic and business planning
  • Designing, coordinating, and managing the construction of capital projects for the District’s infrastructure
  • Overseeing and monitoring financial planning for the department
  • Policy and planning for the District’s infrastructure needs to accommodate new growth and infrastructure replacement
  • Policy and planning for construction of new and replacement water, sewer, and drainage infrastructure
  • Asset management, monitoring and analytics for Engineering and Public Works
  • Oversees Map, cadastral mapping and Munisight tool of all assets for the District
  • Acting as a liaison with other levels of government, utility service providers, and community groups on engineering issues
  • Prepare and submit grant applications
  • Collecting data on the District’s infrastructure for analysis and inventory
  • Supplying long- and short-term planning for the extension and upgrading of municipal works and services to accommodate population growth and to ensure public safety and reliability of the works
  • Supplying long-term and annual capital works budgets for the District Council’s review and approval
