Property Tax Sales

The District of Hudson’s Hope is required by the Local Government Act to sell at Tax Sale, all properties whose taxes have not been paid for 3 years. The Local Government Act gives the Collector authority to sell a property for the Upset Price, which equals all outstanding taxes, penalties, interest, 5% tax sale costs, and land Title Office fees. All property sales are “as is” without warranty or guarantee by the District of Hudson’s Hope.

2025 Property Tax Sale

Pursuant to the Local Government Act, the following properties, land and improvements, will be offered for sale by public auction to be held at the Council Chambers, District of Hudson’s Hope, 9904 Dudley Drive, Hudson’s Hope, B.C. on Monday, September 29, 2025 at 10:00 a.m.

Tax Sale – Properties Available 

The minimum bid is the upset price, that is, the current taxes and penalties, arrears and delinquent taxes and interest, 5% tax sale costs and estimated Land Title Office transfer fees. Any person upon being declared the successful bidder must provide their name and address and immediately pay by cash, debit, or certified cheque the amount of the successful bid amount.  Failure to pay this amount will result in the property being offered for sale again.

The District of Hudson’s Hope makes no representation express or implied as to the condition or quality of the properties being offered for sale. Prospective purchasers are urged to make all necessary inquiries to applicable government departments and in the case of strata lots to the strata corporation, to determine the existence of any bylaws, restrictions, charges or other conditions which may affect the value or suitability of the properties.

The purchase of a tax sale property that is not redeemed is subject to tax under the Property Transfer Act on the fair market value of the property at the end of the one-year redemption period.
