Water Information Meeting
Dr Gilles Wendling, hydro-geologist, will be in Hudson's Hope this coming Wednesday, December 3, to talk about water.
Two Topics:
1) Lynx & Brenot Creek:
If you remember, this summer, Lynx Creek was very low and didn't clean up over the summer. Dave Brough took a sample in for analysis and it showed very high levels of heavy metals. Subsequently Gilles' company, GW Solutions, was hired to collect and analyze more samples to verify results and investigate the source of the metals. The Ministry of the Environment also took samples, and Gilles has those results as well.
At Wednesday's meeting he will go over the results of all the testing that was done this summer as well as compare those findings to results of historical testing of the two creeks (some done in the early 2000's)
2) Regional District Groundwater Study:
Several water projects are underway in the Peace Region. The Regional District has hired GW Solutions to gather and analyze data to get a clear picture of the groundwater situation in the Peace Region. He will explain the study and how the results will increase our understanding of the groundwater and what can be done to protect it.
Dr Wendling did a presentation in Hudson's Hope about 3 years ago. Those of you who attended will remember how knowledgeable he is and how clearly he was able to show how groundwater moves and behaves. I hope you will be able to attend.
