Public Notice – Proposed Zoning Bylaw Without a Public Hearing

In accordance with Section 467 of the Local Government Act, the District of Hudson’s Hope will consider first and second readings of Zoning Bylaw No. 949, 2024, during its Regular Council Meeting on Monday, May 27, 2024. The meeting will be held in Council Chambers at the District Office located at 9904 Dudley Drive. The meetings will be live streamed via Hudson’s Hope Face Book page at 6:00 pm on Monday, June 17, 2024.

TAKE NOTICE that Council is prohibited from holding a Public Hearing for this Bylaw under Section 464 (4) of the Local Government Act and Bill 44, Housing Statutes (Residential Development) Amendment Act to comply with Bill 44. This Public Notice that Public Hearing is prohibited is required prior to the first reading of Zoning Bylaw No. 949, 2024.

The District of Hudson’s Hope is implementing changes to comply with the provincial legislation, Bill 44, which requires all zones that currently permit single-detached dwellings as the only principal use to also permit secondary suites and accessory dwelling units as accessory uses. This means that property owners are now allowed to build a secondary suite or accessory dwelling unit if they wish to do so, but it is not a mandatory requirement. The bylaw will repeal the previous Zoning Bylaw No. 823, 2013, and bring the zoning regulations up to date with the new provincial legislation.

A copy of proposed Zoning Bylaw No. 949, 2024 may be viewed here or at the District of Hudson’s Hope Office between the hours of 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday.
